Director of Technology Services
Botetourt County (pronounced Bot-ah-tot); with an area of 542 square miles and a population of 33,100, is one of Virginia’s most scenic and historically significant counties. Nestled just north of Roanoke, Virginia, Botetourt County offers American history blended with nature and modern attractions.  When it was first established, the County extended all the way to the Mississippi River, covering parts of seven present-day states. Recently, Botetourt has been involved in a host of projects and exciting announcements. ELDOR – a new auto parts manufacturing facility will be opening soon, Ballast Point – a major craft brewery opened over the summer, the Virginia Community College Shared Service center has relocated to the area and other expansions of existing businesses, over 1000 new jobs will be coming to the County.

Botetourt County is recruiting applicants for the position of Director of Technology Services. 
This is a newly created, full-time position with an excellent benefits package, including state retirement through the Virginia Retirement System.
The selected candidate will have responsibility for performing varied professional assignments in the field of technology services and geographic information systems.

Areas of Responsibility:
-Planning, implementing and managing all aspects of the County’s information, geographic information, and communications systems
-Analyzing technology needs of diverse County operations and users
-Preparing and managing the implementation of multi-year organization-wide technology plans
-Preparing and managing departmental budget
-Supervising and managing departmental operations, personnel and resources

Education and Experience:
-Combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
-Six (6) year’s responsible industry experience including supervisory and management experience
-Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated proficiency in general industry environment standards and practices and in enterprise-level geographic information system design, operation and administration

Salary Range: $65,390 – $99,040; starting salary up to $95,000, DOQ
