Senior Systems Administrator
Luna is leading the world in fiber optic technology.  Our Lightwave Division develops optical test and measurement equipment and fiber optic sensing products that transform our customer’s ability to make measurements in demanding applications. The backbone of most any company today is the IT department and key to the success of the department is the quality of our IT Staff.  We are growing and looking for a Sr. System Administrator to support employees in five countries and seven locations in the US.  With primarily Windows client / server environments, the role will be tasked with performing difficult and complex assignments related to analyzing existing systems and defining, designing, and developing new system requirements in support of Luna’s products or services, all with limited supervision.
  • Provide premier technical support and resolution for user problems
  • Support corporate applications, corporate servers, VPN based network, client machines
  • Perform administration on varying technology including, but not limited to, MS Exchange, Active Directory, MS SQL, Ubuntu, Firewalls, and AV
  • Virtual Infrastructure management and support (VMWare, SAN, Networking)
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner by gathering and analyzing information
  • Perform necessary troubleshooting of desktop, laptop, and peripheral devices
  • Identify opportunities for system and process improvement
  • Handle all aspects of systems administration such as monitoring, troubleshooting, e-mail, backup, archiving, disaster recovery, and patching
  • Assist in the selection, procurement and deployment of new equipment
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and escalation activities with outside vendors and support providers as appropriate
  • Assist in maintaining required departmental documentation and inventories
  • Identify opportunities to develop or improve documentation or training materials
  • Monitor systems daily and respond immediately to any security, availability or usability concerns
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience) with 5+ years of IT experience
  • Proven experience with VMWare, Active Directory, Exchange, MSSQL
  • Advanced networking knowledge – LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, Routing
  • Systems Security knowledge - AV, Firewall, Group Policy, WSUS, Patching
  • Scripting knowledge
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple operating systems (Windows/Linux)
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving attitude
  • Willingness to travel when required
