About the Role:

Consults and partners with internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, prepare, and maintain customized internal company documentation including processes, workflows, standards, operating models, user manuals, tutorials, policies, business schedules, technical documentation, etc. Gathers information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements for final product and applies company branding standards. Additionally, helps develop and promote documentation templates, documentation management, standardization, organization, security processes, and archiving.


  • Prepare, review, edit, revise, proof, and maintain internal documents including process, workflow, operating model, standards, and business schedules. Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions. Review and/or copyedit content developed by other individuals and documentation for consistency, branding, and continuously update content with current information.
  • Prepare, review, edit, revise, proof, and maintain software and technical documentation which may ultimately include end user documentation.
  • Demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to participate in systems-level discussions with the team and produce draft documentation for review with subject matter experts.
  • Support planning, scheduling, driving, and tracking documentation work to meet milestone dates and internal or external deliverables.
  • Prepare, drive and moderate decision-making to determine documentation templates and standards (including format, preferred tooling and location) for uncontrolled documents (e.g., processes, standards, workflows, etc.).
  • Publish and maintain templates for written documentation produced by others (technical specifications, process, workflows, etc.), ensuring consistent branding.
  • Meet with subject-matter experts to ensure specialized topics are appropriately addressed. Assist in identifying problem areas or language that is unclear or does not appropriately communicate the message. Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Develop, prepare, and conduct workshops to instruct employees on how to process and convey documentation, utilize templates, etc.
  • Evaluate adoption of a content management system (CMS) to manage the lifecycle of technical documentation including draft, review, and publish phases. Present options, limitations, and costs to leadership and be able to drive implementation if/when needed. If adopted, manage and facilitate on-going review of documents within the CMS.
  • Become a subject matter expert of the Torc documentation management platform and infrastructure, and how the different tools and approaches are used.
  • Identify problem areas or deficiencies with Torc’s documentation management infrastructure, templates, and/or processes and proactively contribute to improvement.
  • Create and maintain an organized and cataloged library of documentation utilizing archiving processes and appropriate security measures.
  • Ensure document security utilizing chain of custody techniques, appropriate document transfer methods such as locks and passcodes, and archiving of documents for intended user access and final records.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communication, Business Administration, Technical Writing, or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience required in technical writing and documentation in an IT development environment and working with HTML.
  • Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.
  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) both in-person and remote.
  • Experience in prioritizing and understanding the lifecycle of documentation from draft/pre-release through on-going maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with MS Office suite and CMS tools.
  • Effective planning, scheduling, researching, and writing skills.
  • Adept at ensuring consistency and accuracy in documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to build trust and strong working relationships, effectively create and proofread documents and reports, and communicate to a diverse workforce.
  • Keen attention to detail to identify problems and processes that do not comply with protocol or standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Critical/logical thinking to identify problems and provide solutions to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality.
