Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment

Prime Photonics provides leading edge sensor and instrumentation products for turbomachinery test, measurement and health monitoring. Founded in 1999, our customers include turbomachinery manufacturers, US DoD, turbomachinery operators, universities, Government labs, and related test and services providers.
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team to work on products and applications relating to gas turbine rotor blade vibration monitoring, shaft torsional vibration and torque sensing and related rotating equipment diagnostic and condition monitoring applications. Current projects include
rotor vibration monitoring, foreign object damage (FOD) detection, stall detection, rotor blade crack detection and industrial shaft monitoring.
Our FOCIS sensor products are used by turbomachinery manufacturers and operators for vibratory analysis and diagnostics on rotor blades and IBRs/BLISKs. Currently under development is our new TVS product for non-contact torque and torsional vibration measurements. The successful candidate will work with our Product and R&D teams in applying these innovative sensing technologies to real-world propulsion and power applications for test, diagnostics and condition monitoring of turbomachinery and other rotating equipment.
The ideal applicant should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, is self-motivated, and will enjoy working in teams that include employees, outside partners, and customers.
Candidates should have experience in one of the following areas:
Rotor dynamics, structural dynamics and vibratory analysis, modeling and/or simulation.
Non-Intrusive Stress Measurement Systems (NSMS)\Blade Tip Timing analysis.
Performing structural, thermal and vibratory analyses and modeling,
Deriving technology and product requirements with customers and technical staff,
Test planning, execution, data analysis and reporting.
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus: rotating equipment condition monitoring, industrial equipment drive train design and commissioning, gas turbine instrumentation, and non-destructive inspection technologies. Some travel is required. Education requirements are B.S.M.E. with 5 years of relevant experience or M.S.M.E. with 2 years of relevant experience.
