Job Description

The Finance Information Technology (FIT) department leverages technology to improve the operating environment of the Vice President for Finance senior management area and related university constituents. FIT is currently seeking an Assistant Director to lead a team in the design, development and support of innovative technology solutions that promote administrative efficiencies and enhance data collection and reporting.

As the Assistant Director of FIT, you will be responsible for implementing systems that improve business processes within all areas of the VP for Finance. You will oversee a small team to design, develop, implement and maintain applications and data reporting systems. You will be responsible for assessing the needs of end users, collaboratively developing strategies to meet the identified needs, and ensuring that the intended outcomes are achieved. This position will provide highly responsive, effective and courteous services. Successful candidates will demonstrate a high degree of initiative and professionalism and have a diverse set of technical skills, the ability to understand business requirements/processes, the ability to multi-task and lead projects, and the drive to collaborate with business users and fellow FIT team members.

This position can accommodate a hybrid work arrangement with a combination of onsite and remote work each week.
 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Experience designing, developing and implementing information systems for end users using modern development and design tools.
  • Experience with SQL and data retrieval.
  • Experience with business process analysis, requirements gathering, converting user requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ability to lead and work on multiple projects simultaneously, independently prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts at a level appropriate to the intended audience.
  • Experience supervising/managing a team; Ability to train and mentor team members to ensure appropriate types and levels of skills.
  • Experience in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Business Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline or a combination of education and relevant experience equivalent to an advanced degree.
  • Experience developing applications using the .NET framework, including C# or Visual Basic, and/or using Microsoft Office 365 technologies such as SharePoint, PowerApps, and Flow. Experience with Azure is a plus.
  • Experience with business intelligence or report development tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, SAS, Crystal Reports, Access, Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Familiarity with basic financial and accounting practices.
