Job Description Position Summary: 
We are transforming our existing platform from an on premise, monolithic, closed architecture system to a modern, open, micro-services, cloud based system. Working on our team will give you the opportunity to craft software in an agile, team-focused environment while learning and exercising a multitude of skills. This position will work on multiple software development initiatives and teams to deliver the next generation of functionality for our customers. This position will play a pivotal role in defining the processes for our teams and the architecture for our systems. This is a hands-on, highly technical position for someone who can dive deep, build complex, AWS-optimized applications, architectures, and develop a long-term strategy, architecture. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing, developing and troubleshooting large-scale software applications and architecture conforming to HIPAA and PHI regulations.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and champion the architectural principles to be used as building blocks for the product.
  • Analyze the current state of architecture and determine the appropriate roadmap and implementation plan for the future state based on current and emerging technologies, trends and patterns.
  • Provide the direction for and lead the execution of the Architecture Review Board.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the Foundation team as the Technical Product Owner covering all aspects from Architecture (Platform, Systems, Data), SaaS Platform Development and DevOps.
  • Manage a team of Architects and/or Software Engineers providing technical direction, mentoring and career development.
  • Analyze requirements and technical specifications, and create architectural designs using cloud-based IaaS and PaaS components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for the platform architecture, services and operating principles.
  • Experience as a software developer with experience in multiple development languages and platforms delivering multiple commercially deployed products to market.
  • Experience developing highly secure, scalable, reliable and performant software systems in the cloud, preferably using AWS.
  • Mentoring skills and competencies, with an ability to transfer knowledge to junior and senior members of engineering teams.
  • Works well with others and is a skilled communicator both written and verbally.
  • Ability to quickly assess multifaceted problems and complex situations and recognize patterns to identify and resolve the root cause.
  • Ability to analyze new technologies, emerging standards and market trends, and understand how they affect products today and in the future.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 7-10 years’ experience in software development in JVM based languages
  • 2+ years’ experience architecting highly scalable and decoupled software products
  • 2+ years’ experience leading a team of Architects or Senior level Software Engineers.
  • Strong collaboration skills: accomplishing tasks will often require working across teams and coordinating work on your own team
  • Proficiency in writing stable, robust and reliable unit, integration and system level testing
  • Passionate for creating scalable, secure and maintainable software
  • Secure coding practices and adherence to OWASP standards
  • Desire to learn and mentor
  • Ability to take a technical leadership role
  • Expert technical understanding of algorithms, software patterns and anti-patterns
  • Demonstrated experience leading people and getting results through others.
