General Role Description
Complete the identified Engineering Excellence Program (EEP) curriculum during the 24-month program period, including successive work rotations in a variety of the Company’s business units and/or client projects, and a 12-week project-based New Engineer Development Program.
Preparation for the Following Role Accountabilities
  • Gather pertinent information from authorized sources to assess project requirements as related to assigned scope of work
  • Support technical project review meetings with clients as required
  • Design industrial controller and/or computer based software modules to meet control functionality and work progress targets at prescribed engineering checkpoints
  • Design Human Machine Interface (HMI) software to meet control functionality and work progress targets at prescribed engineering checkpoints
  • Provide regular, accurate, and considered status reports to parties deemed appropriate to the situation
  • Collaborate with project engineering team to ensure inter-operation of software modules into overall project.
  • Conduct and/or support simulation to verify industrial controller and/or computer software modules satisfy project requirements
  • Conduct and/or support simulation to verify the HMI software satisfies project requirements
  • Support client witness of control system test as needed
  • Recommend improvements to test procedures to better identify where software does not meet all project requirements for assigned scope of work
  • Support commissioning activities at client facilities as required and authorized

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or mechatronics
  • Classes, labs, and projects with concentration in some combination of electrical power systems, control system theory, supervisory software development, data base design/management, software engineering, robotics, or mechatronics
  • Personal computer hardware and software skill proficiency
  • Co-op, internship or other work experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts, in all employment and/or educational settings
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility, in all employment and/or educational settings
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Availability to travel domestically, 10%, and internationally, 5%, sometimes with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications
  • Research project or thesis in the areas of electrical power systems, control system theory, software engineering, robotics, mechatronics, or AC/DC motor drives
  • Work experience as research assistant, intern, or co-op in the above areas
