Job Description

WideOpen has an opening for an entry level position for an individual pursuing Communications, Marketing or any discipline with excellent writing and inter-personal skills. Ideal candidates will be self-starters looking for the opportunity to be part of a team of technical and creative professionals in a fast growing company with a national reputation.

Responsibilities include helping us tell the story of WideOpen Blacksburg to a local and statewide audience by writing blog entries, modifying content for social media, updating Web sites, and responding directly to emails from prospects and customers. 

You will also assist periodically with direct mail campaigns, survey data entry, and other routine marketing tasks as needed. 

Office responsibilities include supporting new and existing customer requests and inquiries, managing support tickets, responding to follow up questions and inquiries, and ensuring customers understand our product.

The position will report to the Marketing director and has the potential to grow into higher level positions in the company.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience working in communications or customer service
  • Experience interacting in a helpful way with customers
  • A degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or any major with significant writing requirements or equivalent experience
  • Experience writing, editing, and producing public-facing content
  • Comfortable using Office or Apple office software products
  • Outgoing and experienced with phone communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with customer support and detail follow up
  • Experience collaborating with creative and technical team members
  • Experience writing to customer prospects 
  • Experience writing about technical issues for non-technical audiences will be very helpful
  • Some social media writing experience
