About the Role:

The Technical Instructor will conduct comprehensive training of Torc’s Autonomous Driving Software, thereby educating and enhancing technical competencies across the organization. Teach, coach, and mentor employees to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to become productive team members and advance their careers. Collaborate with Engineering leaders, the People Operations team, and subject matter experts to identify needs and develop training materials and curriculum. Assist with all aspects of on-boarding team members, providing guidance and support to teach the necessary skills as new employees join or existing employees move internally within the organization. 


  • Partnering with engineering and assigned departments Identify technical training needs within the organization.
  • Partnering with Learning Development and assigned engineering departments prepare, conduct, and evaluate technical training programs.
  • Implement training programs that will prepare employees for the next step in their career path.
  • Support evaluation of current training programs and make iterative improvements.
  • Continually enhance technical instructional delivery and presentation skills.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of course material throughout a course life cycle; collect frequent feedback from stakeholders and trainees and update materials as needed.
  • Collaborate with Learning and Development Team, Engineering leadership, People Operations, and subject matter experts to develop training materials and curriculum.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to provide updates on status of trainees.
  • Learn existing training materials and be able to teach them to others in an efficient way.
  • Manage timelines, schedules, and supplies to ensure completion of training plans.
  • Ensure new team members understand required aspects of the autonomous driving software relevant to their team(s).
  • Provide exercises and assignments to trainees and assess performance and training effectiveness.
  • Working with LMS Administrator and other Learning and Development team members, maintain courseware and curricula in the LMS.
  • Deploy and maintain course content, track completion, and measure effectiveness using the LMS.
  • Assess training needs including audio/visual materials and media, office supplies, meeting spaces, and equipment and coordinate purchases.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Working software development knowledge in Linux Environment (Ubuntu, Centos)
  • Working knowledge of software programming and scripting languages (Modern C++, Python)
  • Working knowledge of advanced mathematics (probability, statistics, calculus, differential equations)
  • Basic knowledge of Agile Methodologies (Kanban/Scrum)
  • Proficient knowledge and skill in teaching technical information and advanced mathematic principles
  • Proficient knowledge in creating course material for in-person, remote, and self-learning e-learning modules.
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning throughout the organization.
  • Strong time-management and personal organizational skills.
  • Strong ability to communicate status in team environment.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust learning tactics for fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient at mentoring and guiding others in growing their skills and knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of systems and software engineering practices for building large real-time systems.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Technical Education, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical education degree with 2 years of relevant technical instruction experience OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related software engineering technical field with 4+ years of relevant technical instruction experience
