Senior DevOps Engineer

The Senior DevOps Engineer will partner with the Staff Software Architect to focus on five main areas.
Designing, developing and implementing automated Continuous Integration & Delivery solutions, as required, to support the technical capabilities at Delta Dental.
Building out new communication channels for development and production operations.
Foster and cultivate best practices for software development while helping to troubleshoot system issues.
Maintain and build self-service devops architecture for the entire company to increase productivity.
Constantly seek out manual process and work with the teams to automate as much as possible.
To be successful in this role one must be able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced environment. This role will implement and evangelize the DDVA DevOps culture, therefore requires excellent communication skills, both with team members and business contacts at all levels. In addition, a successful Senior DevOps Engineer must be able to work with minimal or no supervision on multiple concurrent complex projects and to coordinate the work of others in this environment. This role requires excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Constantly analyze, evaluate, implement and streamline DDVA DevOps practices
Promote a healthy DevOps culture across the organization
Mentor the DevOps team in DevOps ways
Constantly search for ways to automate manual steps or improve current automation
On-call rotation to have seven 9’s uptime
Position Requirements – Day to Day Tasks:
Develop, Implement, improve, maintain and trouble shoot the DevOps Stack
Support code change management through CI/CD code automation
Provide cloud infrastructure support and server or services configuration
Respond rapidly and intelligently to unforeseen production system issues
Track, monitor and automate relevant system health metric, including reliability, security and throughput
Automate and Build systems that dynamically scale
Document infrastructure, process and standards
On Call rotation to have seven 9’s uptime
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering
5-6 years DevOps Engineering experience
2+ Years’ Experience in Knowing and Using Terraform, AWS, Docker and other DevOps Engineering Tools
2+ Years’ Experience implementing and supporting atleast one CI/CD Solution like CircleCI, Jenkins, Concourse etc.
Deep knowledge of IaaS platform(s) – primary focus on AWS (possible Azure, Google, VMWare is useful)
Agile/SCRUM experience is required, SAFe experience is a plus
Development background with one or more languages is required (Bash, C++, Java, Python, GO, Ruby)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to iterate in solving a problem
Ability to learn, plan and strategize in an open source setting
Nice to Have
2+ years’ experience in knowing and using DDVA App Stack
Any Cloud Certification
Any DevOps Certification
DDVA App Stack:
Hashi Suite – Terraform, Consul, Vault, Vagrant, Packer, Nomad
AWS – VPC, Lambda, EC2, ECS, AMI, S3, Route 53
Concourse CI – Bosh Deployments
PostgreSQL / MongoDB
