General Role Description
Develop and manage the business unit’s (BU) technical services system to ensure achievement of the BU’s Mid-Range Plan (MRP) commitments
Role Accountabilities
  • Ensure the effective development, implementation, measurement, and management of the BU’s technical services system
  • Design and staff an organizational structure that can effectively ensure successful execution of the technical service strategy
  • Develop and execute the technical services sales strategy for current and potential clients in the BU's served industries
  • Allocate resources within the context of the BU’s and the Company’s strategic direction and economic health to ensure alignment with business unit and company priorities for technical services
  • Develop relationships with a network of purchase influencers within current and potential client organizations to position the Company to provide technical services
  • Develop effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external clients and suppliers, domestically and internationally, to secure resources and deliver effective solutions which meet client contractual commitments and business goals
  • Ensure KPI's are established, measured, and monitored, in coordination with appropriate personnel; used effectively to manage and improve technical services performance; and communicated to appropriate management
  • Design, develop, implement, and manage a cross-functional protocol that ensures timely, effective communication with clients
  • Ensure effective risk assessment and abatement plans are developed, implemented, and managed to meet technical services budgets and targets. 
  • Ensure technical services processes and tools are designed to meet contractual deliverables and continuously improve site operations, consulting with clients to confirm acceptance
  • Diagnose gaps between current and desired technical services performance and deploy strategies to resolve
  • Ensure an effective resource forecasting process for international assignments and compliance with international immigration and employment regulations
  • Ensure client issues are anticipated, identified, communicated, and resolved, at client sites if necessary, coordinating with appropriate personnel, escalating as appropriate. 
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and thorough creation and submission of commercial and technical proposals, meeting client and business requirements; and their effective communication to clients and internal engineering team 
  • Ensure pricing strategies maximize margins
  • Review commercial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure risk to business is at acceptable levels
  • Ensure accurate project execution estimates for cost and price evaluation of potential service orders

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of science in electrical, electronic, mechanical, computer engineering or equivalent via education and/or experience
  • 3 years of technical, field services management experience in any combination of power generation, renewable energy, utility scale solar, metals, material handling, paper, oil & gas, mining, or related industries
  • 2 years of project or program management experience
  • 3 years of client facing technical sales and/or business development experience
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of service business operating finances
  • Demonstrated use of keen business acumen to develop effective strategies and determine appropriate priorities for improved business results
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic direction with hands-on, tactical work
  • Experience in the review of commercial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure risk to business is at acceptable levels
  • Demonstrated success leading teams to accomplish business goals
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, approximately 20%, sometimes with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success managing financial results to plan in a manufacturing or industrial services business
  • Previous accountability for development of successful business plans
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing supervisors
  • PMP certification
