Job Description Radford University invites applications for the position of IT Department Systems Administrator in the Division of Information Technology. The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, security and support of technologies used for instruction and research in the Department of Information Technology. This includes support for software, computer labs, servers, instructional network equipment and other technology primarily located in Davis Hall. This position will collaborate closely with departmental faculty to configure and maintain a variety of software on Windows and Linux based systems used to support the academic and instructional needs of the department. Required Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating systems including installation, configuration, patching, user administration, networking and software installation Experience administering Windows desktops and laptops and providing end user support including troubleshooting various computer hardware and peripheral problems. Ability to quickly learn new software and tools and assist with the support of these technologies. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience configuring and supporting Apple and OS X systems. Experience with Cisco networking equipment, virtualized infrastructures (VMware, Cphyerpath) and cloud technologies.
