Job Description

VPT, Inc. is seeking a dynamic and experienced power electronics engineer with a passion for applications and working with customers to solve both common and complex challenges.  The successful candidate will be a key team member supporting our global customer base at times working closely with key product development engineers to assist in solving complex technical problems as well as our sales team.  Frequent interfacing with our valued customers, as well as both the Sales & Marketing team, Design Engineering team and Quality Assurance to solve problems and communicate activity and opportunities to sales is a daily part of this position.  Effective communications, both written and verbal, is a must.


In this role the successful candidate will work with sales and marketing to develop applications collateral materials that can be used by our customers.  Ensuring those application tools are easily accessible to our customers via our website or internal distribution to the sales team will also be an important part of this position.


This position is located in our Blacksburg, VA headquarters; however, as an applications engineer travel is a requirement and 20% to 30% travel is expected.  


Required Qualifications:

  • BSEE or MSEE  with applicable experience
  • Technical training in analog and power electronics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Systematic approach to problem solving and organization
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% to 30% of the time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple priorities are part of the daily routine
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong personal integrity and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of related experience with a Mil/Aerospace Company
  • Work experience with DC-DC power conversion applications
  • Experience with simulation tools
