About the Role:

Performs Total Rewards (Compensation and Benefits) research and analysis to support the achievement of Torc Mission, Vision and Values. Provides market pricing and titling recommendations for new positions; conducts job re-evaluations of existing jobs to ensure market consistency; provides wage recommendations; partners with other members of Total Rewards/HR team on operational and project-related activities.  Prepares reports, white papers, presentations, position organizational charts, and related materials. Provides analytical and operational support to Benefits Manager.

**This role is open to remote/home office support, with occasional travel to Blacksburg.**

Responsibilities:

  • Review requests, conducts relevant job analysis including job description review and market pricing; research supplementary documentation when needed to support findings.
  • Develops and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization ensuring accurate reflection of the work being performed.
  • Researches and analyzes job tasks, duties, and responsibilities to create job architecture including creating and modifying job descriptions, FLSA status, job codes and job class levels. Ensures compliance to relevant federal, state, and position specific laws and regulations.
  • Interviews and surveys employees and managers to gather and document job and organizational information including duties, responsibilities, qualifications, and skills required. Determines the scope and complexity of responsibilities and requirements.
  • Partners with Talent Acquisition to ensure appropriate use of existing positions and researching market compensation information.  As necessary, modifies and creates new job descriptions which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities, and requirements.
  • Conducts periodic reviews of job descriptions and provides revisions as needed.  Performs audits and evaluation; documents findings and recommendations to contribute to a report for review.
  • Develops and maintains positional and functional organizational charts according to branding and protocol.
  • Uses published and in-house ad hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay rates.
  • Researches, analyzes, documents, and reports on compensation data from a variety of sources including published market surveys, professional organizations and recruiting resources; assesses results and market trends.
  • Researches total rewards in similar industries, provides proposal to ensure Torc remains competitive in the technology industry; conducts proxy reviews as needed.
  • Utilize and maintain leveling guides and other tools as needed to analyze and report on data.
  • Provides compensation recommendations, promoted and demoted employees and as needed including creating/reviewing job questionnaires, partnering with Talent Acquisition, evaluating jobs, determining wages and documenting findings.
  • Shares compensation analysis/reports with the Total Rewards team for peer review; interacts with customers to establish, negotiate, and achieve response timeframes.
  • Assists with midyear and annual compensation reviews. Provides data input and recommendations to compensation reviews.
  • Assists with annual market survey submissions to third-party market survey company.
  • Creates compensation training programs and materials.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in one or more component of Total Rewards.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or 8-years of equivalent experience) in Human Resources or other discipline directly related to the position.
  • CCP, SPHR or other related certification strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources principles and best practices in compensation and benefits.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform market pricing and compensation analysis.
  • High-level competency and skills with MS Office Word, Excel (Advanced level preferred), Outlook, and PowerPoint, and HRIS systems.
