General Role Description
Provide technical leadership and direction for the application of electrical control and process automation systems as applied to heavy industry markets, such as oil & gas, mining, testing, water, and power generation
Role Accountabilities
  • Develop and integrate appropriate application engineering processes that meet clients’ system performance requirements
  • Assess and define optimum technical system solutions to meet requirements for new applications
  • Research and assess the Company’s products, performance, and competitive position, and recommend product enhancements and new products to senior management
  • Monitor and investigate technology developments in key industrial markets and recommend viable applications
  • Ensure delivered systems meet performance requirements of the designed solution
  • Prepare and communicate specifications to ensure sub-suppliers have necessary information to provide accurate cost quotations
  • Prepare documentation for clients which articulates the benefits of the Company’s solution and propose competitive options applicable to the clients’ individual needs
  • Promote consistent application engineering practices and improved response times by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and productive communication with parent company personnel
  • Present Company technical solutions to management, employees, clients and others at technical meetings, conferences and via technical articles or professional society publications
  • Lead technical discussions with parent company design teams during the product specification and development process
  • Provide technical consulting, coaching, and training to company and subsidiary engineering team members to transfer knowledge of Company process and product solutions and ensure successful project execution, as directed by management

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 7 years’ experience in the application of power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools as well as programming and modeling experience
  • Availability to travel domestically, approximately 20%, and internationally, approximately 10%, often with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of science degree in electrical engineering
  • Proficiency in power system analysis
  • Proficiency in computer modeling techniques, e.g., MATLAB or similar
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with power conversion technology and applications
  • Demonstrated experience in the research and application of new technologies for client solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with TMEIC power electronic products and motor families
