The Montgomery County, VA Finance Department has an immediate opening for a Finance Manager. Reporting to the Director, the position is responsible for performing complex professional and difficult administrative work. This position is responsible for coordinating, planning, and preparing detailed reporting for the annual audits of the County and related component units and agencies for which the County is the fiscal agent. Currently, the County has three component units and is the fiscal agent for four entities. Detailed reporting includes, but is not limited to, preparing audit workpapers, implementing new guidance, and preparing the County Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining the departmental procedures manual, and interpreting federal and state laws, local ordinances, and procedures to ensure compliance of financial activities. This position provides department leadership in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director and acts as a backup for various finance functions.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required; six years of related experience preferred. Candidates must hold and maintain a Virginia Certified Public Accountant License. Must be able to work within broad policy and organizational guidelines, independently plan and implement projects, and report progress through meetings. Must have a strong knowledge base of Finance, Payroll, and HR systems, applications, databases, and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
