ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - Department of Management and Budget

The Montgomery County, VA Department of Management and Budget has an immediate opening for an Assistant Director.  Reporting to the Director, the position performs complex professional work related to the development, administration, and execution of the County’s budget and Capital Improvement Program.  This position plays a key role in supporting responsible stewardship of County funds and ensuring the organization’s financial resources are aligned with strategic priorities and community needs. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of governmental budgeting, financial management, and strong analytical, forecasting and problem-solving skills.  Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, department directors, employees and the public.  With that, includes the ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate it clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.  Position will prepare complex financial statements and reports, independently plan and implement projects, and report progress as needed.  Must be able to evaluate economic trends and analyze the impact of state and federal legislation.
