Position Summary:

The MELD Operator and Instructor is responsible for delivering operator training programs while also supporting the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of MELD manufacturing equipment and processes. This role serves as both a technical instructor and hands-on machine operator, ensuring customers and internal personnel are trained effectively while maintaining machine readiness and supporting manufacturing and process development activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training and Instruction
    • Conducting basic training programs for new operators including safety procedures, equipment operation and maintenance, material-specific processes, quality control, and related subjects
      • Product manuals
      • Technical specifications
      • User guides
      • Installation and operating instructions
    • Conducting advanced training for specific alloys for experienced operators.
    • Creating engaging training materials, including manuals, videos, presentations, and job aids, ensuring their effectiveness and keeping them up to date.
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and making improvements as necessary to enhance their impact.
    • Collaboration with subject matter experts to ensure training content remains accurate and up to date.
    • Gathering feedback from customers regarding the training sessions and incorporate the necessary improvements.
    • Communication with customers for schedule Management of select training logistics, including scheduling, equipment setup, and materials preparation.
    • Deliver training certificates
    • Travel to customer sites for training purposes as needed (travel is estimated 30-40%).
    • Process support tickets and provide technical support as needed.
  • Machine Operations and Process Support
    • Execute manufacturing operations in accordance with established process requirements and work instructions.
    • Support process development, testing, and continuous improvement activities in collaboration with M&P Engineers and Engineering teams.
    • Support demonstrations, customer visits, and training events while helping protect MELD intellectual property.
    • Serve as an internal technical resource for operators, engineers, and other team members by sharing best practices and providing operational guidance and SOP (standard Operating Procedure) documents.
    • Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on CNC-controlled MELD equipment.
    • Maintain machine logs, preventive maintenance records, operating procedures, and other process documentation.
    • Maintain machine readiness by ensuring availability of materials, tooling, fixtures, spare parts, and supporting inventories.
    • Assist with materials preparation, inspection, testing support, and fixture-related activities as required.
    • Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, including adherence to 6S principles and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of Experience operating CNC-controlled manufacturing equipment, preferably MELD machine or related manufacturing equipment.
  • Associate degree or higher in manufacturing or related fields
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and maintenance experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to instruct technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and inspire MELD operators.
  • Ability to read drawings and manuals.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation and training materials.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable with regular interaction with customers and supporting users as needed
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb stoop, kneel and lift and/or push/ pull up to 40 pounds.
